An exclusive, subscriber only, extra edition of GOOTH.
Hey Parents! Here are a few more events that popped up on my radar for this weekend. Now, these are just between you and me, so don’t even think about forwarding this email to one of your friends. And definitely don’t click that share button below!
1. 1880's Halloween at Old Bethpage Village Restoration - Oct 28-29 at 10am-4pm
Old Bethpage Village Restoration is a unique venue that features hundreds of acres of historic buildings and authentic artifacts. This weekend they’re hosting a Halloween themed event. The event will include trick-or-treating at various village homes, a scavenger hunt, costume contest, and an Old Time Baseball Ghost Game on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for kids.
2. Nassau County Barkfest - Sunday, Oct 29 at 1pm-3pm
This poster speaks for itself. What could be better than hundreds of dogs dressed up in Halloween Costumes? Stop by Eisenhower Park and check out the parade on Sunday!
3. Take a Tour of Halloween Decorated Houses on Long Island
The admins of the “Holiday Houses on Long Island” Facebook group aggregate an annual list of houses decorated for Halloween. You can view the full list here, but also there is a very convenient Google Maps overlay that can help you plan a route. I would highly recommend joining that group because they also do a similar list for the Winter Holidays. Drive safe!
4. The Great Jack-o'-Lantern Sail at Belmont Lake State Park - Saturday, Oct 28 at 3pm
Get ready for an enchanting evening at the Belmont Lake State Park! The first 50 creatively carved pumpkins will be placed on floating devices with magical, battery-powered lights. These glowing jack-o'-lanterns will set sail around the lake, led by kayaks. Before the captivating lantern sail, there's a world of fun waiting for kids of all ages. Enjoy exciting games, bouncy inflatables, hilarious photo opportunities, and delightful trick-or-treat stations. Don't forget to take a stroll through the 'Spooky Den,' where our talented staff has created spooky displays for your enjoyment. It's an evening of Halloween wonder that you won't want to miss!
5. Fall-O-Ween Fall Festival at Waterdrinker Farms in Manorville and Riverhead
This sunny weekend will be a perfect time for a visit to a farm. We’ve been to Waterdrinker a few times over the years and they have very wide selection of activities for kids to enjoy pretty much year round. Be prepared for lots of walking and make sure to charge those camera batteries! Tickets are $20.
